Information

The Munich Science Communication Lab (MSCL) aims to promote exchange and co-operation between research and practice in science communication. Research at the MSCL is both fundamental and application-orientated. From a perspective that stems predominantly from the field of communication science, we seek interdisciplinary dialogue with other social sciences as well as with the humanities and natural sciences.

Research at the Munich Science Communication Lab is currently focused on the topic of “Communicating Planetary Health”, considering approaches from various research fields, such as environmental communication, health communication, political communication, and risk communication. We also investigate harmful and constructive forms of science communication. With regard to the impact of science communication, we develop concepts and methods for evaluating different science communication formats.

The MSCL aims to provide evidence-based, theory-informed, and ethical resources and guidelines for science communication that enhance societal discourse and participation.
